Memories
forever...

Every baby is a godsend, a precious package of everything innocent and wonderful about love, life and family. No matter how much we want to keep our children as babies forever, they do grow up eventually. How often do you find yourself thinking you could hold your baby tiny hand and feet forever?

Melisa Kam and her husband David felt the same way too. “We felt that such a precious moment in time, however transient, was something that we wished to last forever,” she said.

They were looking for something beyond the usual photograph, portrait and home video because they wanted a special way to preserve every fine curve, line and dimple of a baby’s delicate hands and fingers. And through their travels they found the perfect way- by making plaster cast out of their daughter’s hands and feet!

“When we first saw that tiny cast of a baby’s hand, with every detail from her cuticle to the tiny wrinkles on her fingers, we knew we had to get one done for our four months old Nicolette,” said Melisa. “It took many months of trying before we managed to perfect the technique but we were lucky as Nicolette was a willing model.”

She felt heart-warming to know that Nicolette, who is three years old now, can look at her own hands and feet sculptures that were made when she was a baby. She also looks forward to a time when Nicolette is a mother herself and is able to share these intricately detailed moments with her baby and for many more generations to come.

“Every cast makes a special memory for our family and we can only hope that every family gets the opportunity to take part in preserving their history, memories and love. This is why we want to share this unique experience with other,” explained Melisa.

She also bronze (encasing in copper) keepsakes such as baby shoes and pacifiers, and even makes casts of pregnant bellies. The belly cast is a celebration of life within and will remind the mother of her pregnancy. “And if you want your babyís shoe to be passed on to the next generation, itís good to have them bronzed.”

For your very own personalised casting session, please call Melisa or David at 03-5882 9415 or 012-252 5577 to make an appointment. Prices start from RM240 for two feet, complete with a frame and name plate. A belly cast is RM200 onwards. Charges for bronzing depend on the item. A shoe starts from RM200 and a pacifier, RM180.
